Meet the Designers Who Shaped the Future

The Woodara Furniture Contest 2026 has come to an end. We are proud to present five designers whose unique visions and approaches to furniture design stood out among the finalists.

Fransisko Agung Aprilian
Cosmological Collection

The Cosmological Collection translates the values of Indonesian cosmology into contemporary furniture without directly replicating traditional forms. Its design draws inspiration from cultural archetypes such as Plengkung Gading, the Balinese Jineng, the teak tree, and the horseshoe shape, expressed through clean structures, ergonomic proportions, and an honest use of materials. Crafted from solid teak, Lombok ketak weaving, and metal accents, the collection brings together local craftsmanship with a design that is functional, timeless, and well suited to modern living.

Abigail Kalyca Zarkis
Lura - Chair

The Lura Chair combines modern aesthetics with ergonomic comfort through a gracefully curved solid teak frame that showcases the natural beauty of the wood grain. Its backrest features precision-crafted natural fiber weaving, providing flexibility, breathability, and celebrating the value of local craftsmanship. Paired with cushions upholstered in locally sourced cotton fabric, the chair offers a functional and comfortable design while expressing the authenticity of Indonesian materials and artisanal heritage.

Dewi Aprilasari
The Weave of Harmony

The The Weave of Harmony (Jalinan Harmoni) Collection is built around the philosophy of interconnectedness, bringing together local wisdom and contemporary design. Inspired by the intricate craftsmanship of rattan weaving, each piece is designed to create harmony between tradition and modernity, nature and technology, as well as aesthetics and comfort. Crafted from natural materials including wood, rattan, leather, natural stone, and metal, the collection highlights exceptional craftsmanship, precision construction, and ergonomic, sustainable design.

Besar Panguji
Dvārapāla Collection

The Dvārapāla Collection is inspired by the iconic Dwarapala guardian statues of Bali, symbols of strength and protection. These qualities are expressed through bold silhouettes, graceful curves, and a thoughtful combination of wood, woven leather, and fabric that reflects the textures and patterns characteristic of Balinese craftsmanship. Blending Bali’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary design, the collection offers furniture that is strong, elegant, and perfectly suited to modern interiors.

Muhammad Rizky Zaelani
Pakatta Collection

The Pakatta Collection is inspired by the traditions of the Betawi wedding ceremony, celebrating the values of togetherness, hospitality, and the joy of sharing in everyday life. Cultural elements such as Kue Bugis, Kue Cincin, and the Tenong serving basket are reinterpreted as contemporary furniture while preserving their symbolic meaning. Crafted from mahogany, woven bamboo, clear resin, and upholstered materials, the collection seamlessly blends Betawi cultural heritage with warm, functional, and modern design.
